Shayan Murray, born in the Illawarra region of NSW, Australia, is a manga-style comic book writer-artist.

With a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 3D Animation from JMC Academy, he has been given a strong foundation in visual storytelling, complemented by his studies in acting at institutions like TAFTA, NIDA, Actor’s Pulse, and Acting Mastery.

Shayan has had a passion for illustration, manga and anime all his life which has fuelled his desire to create his own stories. Shayan was a finalist in the 2020 ANIME GO! Japan Pop Culture Festival’s ‘4-Koma Manga Competition’. In 2025, he wrote his first one-shot comic ‘Secrets by Moonlight’ for the Global Comic Awards on Manga Draft (available soon).

In 2024, he wrote his first short film script ‘Trip Down Memory Lake’ which he entered into Creative Wollongong x Screen Illawarra’s Short Film Competition and was chosen as a finalist to have his script produced and screened at Creative Wollongong’s Outdoor Short Film Festival. Following it’s screening, the short film has gained mulitple accolades, including 4 Finalist achievements and winning awards at Salt House Creative International Film Festival and Sunburst Film Festival in Australia, and IndieFEST Film Awards in California, America.
